Commission Glass Pieces
Creating a unique, custom, one-of-a-kind piece of glasswork is exciting for both the you as the client and myself, the artist.
How and where the piece will be displayed is important to the design and color selection. Commission starts with the design of the pattern and ends with delivery/receipt of the piece.
Due to the special nature of these projects, an agreement makes the process move smoothly toward satisfactory completion for both the client and the artist.
Development Process Steps For Commission Work
1) Client/Artist discussion/meeting regarding the nature of the piece including the design, dimensions, colors, and lighting/framing.
If desired, a colored paper draft can be created for visual perception. Pictures are helpful when designing the pattern.
2) Written estimate of the cost for completion based upon materials, supplies and artist time along with a targeted delivery date.
3) Written acceptance by the client of the proposed project description accompanied by a 50% down payment of the defined cost.
The end goal is to create glass art work that reflects the desires of the client to be displayed with pride and captures the mastery of the artist.
All patterns made for pieces are property of Janey Neal Glassworks.
Deposits are not refundable.
LED lights can be included for an additional cost to backlight the piece and give it a glowing ambience. LED lights are also used in lamp pieces.
Pieces that are for sale in my shop that are not custom designed, are sold for the listed shop price, plus shipping/handling.
These are a one of a kind of pieces. Every one is different and there are imperfections in them as they are handmade. I will thoroughly check the piece for cracks, but sometimes stress cracks appear because of temperature changes. Sometimes they can be fixed, sometimes they cannot. Your piece will be tested, hung over night to make sure the jump rings/hanging connection are soldered on securely. Hanging chains are included. You can choose to use the ones I send with the piece, or to find your own.
Shipping/Handling is paid for by the customer. A flat rate may be used with particular items while some pieces will require weighted shipping depending on size and complexity of necessary packaging. Materials used to package item is included in flat rate shipping.
Packages will be sent through USPS Priority Mail. Delivery and Pick up is also an option. Please feel free to discuss these options with me.
Pieces will be packaged as securely as possible. Shipping includes using a third party source. Because of this, there is always a possibility that it may break during its delivery. Depending on the weight, size or cost of a piece, I may recommend the piece be picked up, hand delivered or shipped through a freight shipping company.
